  • Communications and customs clearance have presented difficulties in the past, but have become less frequent as the programme gains experience.
  • Power cuts sometime affect lighting and cauterization equipment.
  • Surgical instruments are few, suboptimal and often damaged by continuous use. Replacements and scissor sharpeners are needed.
  • The operating table is often at low height relative to some European surgeons.
